You have your interlock device. You’ve gotten used to driving with it. You’ve even got a bunch of rolling retests under your belt. But whether you’ve had your device for a few days or several weeks, you’ve probably wondered about your first interlock device monitoring appointment. How long will the appointment take? Will you need to bring anything with you? Since we get a lot of questions about these appointments, we put together some essential information. If you have any more questions after reading this post, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Interlock Device Monitoring

You should set up an interlock device monitoring appointment once every eight weeks. Different states have different requirements, but in New Jersey, eight weeks is the standard. The good news is that you won’t have to keep track of the time yourself. Your device will remind you when it’s time to make an appointment.¬†Generally, you won’t have to bring anything with you other than your car with the device. From start to finish, the entire process should take about fifteen minutes, and then you’ll be back on the road again.

Testing and Adjustment

During your interlock device monitoring appointment, we’ll start by testing and recalibrating the device. Think of this phase as a “tune-up” for the device. We’ll make sure that the interlock device still works properly and takes accurate measurements. Once we’ve tested the device, we’ll make any necessary adjustments.

Data and Reporting

We’ll also measure the data stored on your device. Your interlock device keeps track of your breath sample results. We’ll record all of the data from the past eight weeks and then report that data. Assuming that you’ve provided clean breath samples during that time, you’ll be one step closer to getting the device removed.
